The Minnesota Twins are expected to be awarded the 2014 All-Star Game in an announcement on Wednesday.

MLB commissioner Bud Selig is set to announce Wednesday which city will host the 2014 All-Star Game, and every indication is that the game is being awarded to the Minnesota Twins. Selig will be joined at Target Field, where the announcement will be made at 4 p.m. ET, by Minnesota mayor R.T. Rybak and Twins legend Rod Carew. According to Twins' owner Jim Pohlad, talks between the franchise and Selig regarding the game have "ramped up" in recent days.

This year's All-Star Game took place in Kansas City, and the 2013 All-Star Game will be hosted by the New York Mets. Awarding the game to the Twins sticks with baseball's preference of alternating between American League and National League ballparks. The Twins last hosted the All-Star Game in the Metrodome in 1985.
