The Twins open a three-game series with the Royals on Tuesday night when they send Scott Diamond to the mound.
Two rookie left-handed pitchers will face off in the opening game of a three-game series between the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals. The Twins are riding a three-game winning streak and hope to continue the trend and climb out of the bottom of the standings when they face the Royals.
The Twins will send Scott Diamond (11-6, 3.35 ERA) to the mound, coming off a win he'd rather forget. In Diamond's last outing he only lasted five innings, giving up four runs, but the Twins came away with a 18-9 win over the Chicago White Sox. Diamond has been the Twins' best starter this season and has split his two starts against the Royals.
The Royals will answer with their own rookie left-hander, Will Smith (4-7, 5.45 ERA) who has lost both his contests against the Twins, but pitched well against them on Sept. 1, allowing three runs over six innings.
Game Date & Time: Tuesday, Sept. 11, 8:10 p.m. EST
