Brett Favre 'Questionable" For Vikings' Game Against Giants

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre did not throw during today’s practice, and Minnesota has officially listed him as “questionable” for this Sunday’s game against the New York Giants, reports ESPN:

Favre, suffering from a sprained SC joint in his throwing shoulder, had his helmet on at practice and took four snaps Friday, but did not throw. Favre handed off with his left hand twice and then took two dropbacks.

Interim head coach Leslie Frazier told reporters Favre will be a game-time decision. He has made 297 consecutive starts, a streak this injury surely jeopardizes.

Tavaris Jackson would get the nod if Favre can’t go, which must upset the folks at Daily Norseman, SB Nation’s Vikings blog. “My faith in Tavaris Jackson as a starting quarterback is…low,” writes DN contributor Skol Girl.

Brett Favre's Shoulder Injury Causes Him To Miss Practice Thursday

Brett Favre’s injury was expected to heal in time for him to practice with the rest of the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, but his shoulder still wasn’t healthy enough to allow him to participate.

Favre, whose shoulder injury is more precisely defined as a sprained sternoclavicular joint, was not available to reporters on Thursday. Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier did talk to the media, however.

“I’m hopeful that it will work,” Frazier told the Associated Press of Favre’s resting. “Just hoping that things will be better tomorrow than they were today.”

While Frazier was disappointed, he remained optimistic that Favre might be able to start this weekend.

“We were hoping that he’d be able to do something today,” Frazier said. “The fact that he couldn’t just means we’ll move it back another day. Friday’s not the end of the world. If he can do some things tomorrow that will be great, and hopefully that will be the case.”

More than likely, the Favre injury will lead to a gametime decision when the Vikings play the New York Giants this weekend.
