There's a little bit of good news for Minnesota Vikings fans who would rather do something other than pay attention to the team's 1-5 record and stress themselves out about whether or not the team will bench Donovan McNabb in favor of Christian Ponder.

Maybe it's just "neutral" news, but the news on Monday that Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton intends to call a special legislative session on November 21 designed specifically for the discussion of a new football stadium for the team. The session would be limited just to that discussion and last no longer than three days, the point is that it is progress.

It's anybody's guess how the Governor himself feels about the stadium plans and the team's proposal to get the upwards of $300 million directly from the state to help fund the $1.1 billion stadium, but it surely has its supporters and its detractors. The sessions will serve as a means to get things going, and should be a definite plus for the Vikings organization.

Their current lease on the Metrodome runs out at the end of this season, and the team has said they won't extend it until a new stadium deal is reached, so there's a lot riding on this.
