Report Tabs Donovan McNabb As Lazy, Uncommitted

As you're well aware by now. . .at least, if you've been following this site. . .rookie quarterback Christian Ponder will be getting the start for the Minnesota Vikings this afternoon when they take on the Green Bay Packers. However, if the report from Michael Lombardi of NFL.com is true, one has to wonder why the Vikings didn't make the switch from Donovan McNabb sooner.

Or, more specifically, why did they bother with Donovan McNabb at all?

Lombardi's report basically paints McNabb as someone that's lazy and uncommitted. For example:

He failed to really grasp the offense in Minnesota (as he did in Washington), having trouble spitting the plays out quickly -- which meant the play sheet on his arm got bigger and bigger. It did not take long before McNabb's lack of commitment was seen by the older players, causing them to understand that a move had to be made. One thing I have learned over my 20 years in the league is you can't fool the players, especially ones who have seen what it takes to be successful.

If this is even remotely true, then not only should McNabb be benched, he should be cut before his "work ethic" has the chance to rub off on any of the Vikings' younger players, particularly Ponder. Then again, from everything I've seen and heard about Ponder, we don't have to worry too much about him becoming the same kind of person that McNabb has apparently turned into.
