The Minnesota Vikings have had a rough season, now out of the race for the NFC North and not a wildcard competitor, and the theme of the season has quickly centered on the progression of rookie quarterback Christian Ponder. On Sunday, they have a chance to pick up a morale-centered win when they take on the division rival Detroit Lions.
Detroit is hoping for a wildcard berth after dropping straight games against the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints. The best thing the Vikings can do right now is get a morale win over the Lions and play spoiler to their playoff hopes. And, as usual, they'll be looking to get Christian Ponder a good game to help build confidence and give them hope for next season. The Lions are well out of reach in the NFC North division, but they're hoping for another shot at perhaps the 49ers, Packers or Saints in the playoffs with a wildcard berth.
