Lions At Vikings: Another Field Goal Extends Minnesota Lead To 6-0

Stay connected for news and updates

Once again, the Vikings had a promising drive going, and it wound up stalling when they got down into the Detroit Lions' red zone.

Minnesota forced a three-and-out from the Lions, including Jared Allen sacking Matthew Stafford, the first time Stafford has been sacked this season. After taking over near midfield, the Vikings moved downfield, aided by a roughing the passer penalty Lions' defensive tackle Sammie Hill on an incomplete pass on third down that kept the Vikings' drive alive. However, once Minnesota got inside the 20, the drive stalled, and the Vikings had to settle for Ryan Longwell's second field goal of the day, a 41-yarder that made the score 6-0 in favor of Minnesota.

Longwell is now 92 for his last 96 on field goals from 45 yards and in. He is also five out of five on this season.

With 3:55 left in the first quarter of play, the Minnesota Vikings lead the Detroit Lions at the Metrodome by a score of 6-0.
