Chris Cook injury update: Broken arm sidelines Vikings CB 8 weeks

Bruce Kluckhohn-US PRESSWIRE

The Minnesota Vikings clarified defensive back Chris Cook's injury status on Friday, and it turns out the young defensive back suffered a broken arm and will miss an estimated eight weeks of action.

The Minnesota Vikings provided an injury update for cornerback Chris Cook on Friday, and unfortunately Cook suffered a broken arm in Week 8 and will undergo surgery, likely missing 7-8 weeks, according to NFL.com. Cook injured his right arm during the team's 36-17 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday night, and although the team initially called it a broken wrist, it is now officially termed a broken arm.

Head coach Leslie Frazier said that Cook is "disraught" that he will probably miss the remainder of the regular season, and Frazier also hinted that Cook could be headed to the injured reserve and given a special designation that would allow him to return if the team makes the playoffs.

Rookie defensive backs Josh Robinson and A.J. Jefferson are expected to fill in for Cook for the remainder of the season. Bobby Felder could also be elevated from the practice squad to replace Cook on the 53-man roster, and ESPN 1500 reported that Frazier said the Vikings could bring in one or more free agents for workouts as soon as Saturday.
