2012 NFL Hall Of Fame Voting: Carter, Doleman Await Results

Chris Doleman is one of two Vikings that could be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame this year.

Today is the day that the National Football League Hall of Fame Committee decides who becomes members of the Class of 2012, and two very prominent Minnesota Vikings are awaiting the results to see who will get the call to Canton.

The first of these two players is wide receiver Cris Carter. Quite frankly, it's ridiculous that Carter isn't already in, having been passed over several times already for players that are, quite frankly, not as good as he was. When Carter retired, he had more receptions (1,101), receiving yards (13,899), and receiving touchdowns (130) than any receiver in NFL history not named Jerry Rice. As it stands now, he's currently fourth in both receptions and touchdowns and eighth in yardage. Pretty impressive, seeing that a decade has passed since the last time he set foot on an NFL field.

The other player is defensive end Chris Doleman. Doleman is fourth on the NFL's all-time sacks list with 150.5, and was one of the great pass rushers of his or any other generation. He held the Vikings' team record for sacks in a season (21) until Jared Allen surpassed his mark this past season. The fourth overall pick of the Vikings in the 1986 NFL Draft out of the University of Pittsburgh, Doleman also spent time with the San Francisco 49ers and Atlanta Falcons during his career.

Once the results of the voting are announced, we will have them for you here at SB Nation Minnesota.
