In the wake of allegations that New Orleans Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma put a $10,000 bounty on Brett Favre's head prior to the 2010 NFC Championship game, Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk attempted to reach out to the Minnesota Vikings for comment, but received a no-comment from Team Spokesman Bob Hagan.

According to the NFL, former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams administered a bounty program in which players received cash bonuses for delivering hard hits and even more for knocking out an opposing player. The NFL believes between 22-27 Saints participated in the program, offering up their own money to enhance the pot.

In the aforementioned 2012 NFC Championship, Vikings quarterback Brett Favre was battered into retirement by the New Orleans Saints defense. Via Gene Wojciechowski of ESPN, following the game:

Favre was pounded like a gavel, twisted like an Auntie Anne's pretzel. The guy got hit so hard and so often Sunday that Superdome officials should have a walking tour of the field.

Florio also astutely points out Adrian Peterson's allegations following the game:

Until Favre talks, keep in mind that Vikings running back Adrian Petersonaccused Saints safety Jabari Greer of twisting Peterson's ankle at the bottom of a pile during a December 2011 game between the teams.

Considering the scope of this story, repercussions are sure to follow for the Saints from the league office. Except a hefty fine and potentially the loss of a draft pick or two.
