The Minnesota Vikings announced the signing of free agent linebacker Marvin Mitchell on Tuesday.
The Minnesota Vikings signed free agent linebacker Marvin Mitchell Tuesday, according to the Vikings official blog. Via Mike Wobschall:
With the Vikings, Mitchell will likely provide depth at multiple LB spots and he will certainly be in the mix as a core special teams contributor.
Mitchell, 27, played all 16 games last season for the Miami Dolphins recording 30 tackles, two forced fumbles and one interception. He was drafted in the seventh round by the New Orleans Saints in 2007 and played his first four seasons in New Orleans.
Mitchell is listed at 6-foot-3 249 pounds and played his college football at Tennessee. Minnesota needs to improve their depth at the linebacker position and are hopeful signing Mitchell will do just that.
