Vikings investigating situation for running back heading into his second year.
Seldom used Minnesota Vikings running back Caleb King was arrested early Saturday morning on a serious assault charge. The alleged assault reportedly took place outside of a birthday party when the victim was trying to leave after the two exchanged words inside the party.
The alleged victim of the assault, a 22-year-old man from Coon Rapids, is hospitalized with a skull fracture, facial fractures and injuries that required more than 50 stitches to close and may also have a serious brain injury, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
According to the report, the victim had been teasing King inside the party which eventually provoked the violent reaction.
King was a rookie undrafted free agent for the Vikings last season, spending most of the year on the practice squad. His status with the team will certainly be impacted by how this situation plays out as GM Rick Spielman continues to gather information.
But for King, playing football is the least of his worries at the moment.
