Chris Cook Likely To Miss San Diego Game Friday

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook underwent further post-concussion testing on Tuesday and did not pass, according to ESPN 1500's Tom Pelissero, making him unlikely to see action in Friday night's matchup with the San Diego Chargers. Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said that he hoped the third-year player out of Virginia, who is expected to be a starter in 2012, could get in some practice time on Wednesday. Cook was injured during preseason action on Friday night in a collision with Buffalo Bills receiver Stevie Johnson.

In Cook's absence, veteran Chris Carr and rookie Josh Robinson will receive more playing time. Carr is in his seventh NFL season, after stints with the Oakland Raiders, Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans, and has played most of the snaps this preseason as the third defensive back in the Vikings' nickel package. Robinson, a third-round pick in the 2012 draft out of Central Florida, impressed the coaching staff with his play on Friday night.

Vikings Injury News: Kyle Rudolph Back At Practice, Chris Cook Still Out With Concussion

The Minnesota Vikings were unable to escape their second game of the preseason unscathed as both Kyle Rudolph and Chris Cook suffered what looked to be concussions at the time. Monday's practice offered some good news and some bad news on that front.

Rudolph was able to participate in Monday's practice after passing all of the typical concussion tests, though his status for this week's preseason game is still in doubt as the training staff wants to make sure he's 100 percent.

The news on Cook was worse, however, as he was held out of Monday's practice after failing the concussion tests on Monday. The team expects him to undergo the same tests Tuesday in hopes of him returning sooner rather than later.

"(We'll) just have to wait and see," Frazier said. "You'd like for him to be out here practicing and working and improving, but until he gets cleared you just have to wait and see."

In other injury news, Letroy Guion was able to return to practice -- albeit with a brace -- and John Carlson will likely be held out of this week's game. 1500 ESPN has an update on some of the other guys, too:

Safety Robert Blanton (hamstring) is improving, as is running back Jordan Todman (ankle). Defensive end Everson Griffen sat out Monday because of a stomach virus but is expected back Tuesday. Wide receiver Kamar Jorden (hand), linebacker Solomon Elimimian (hamstring) and guard Geoff Schwartz (sports hernia surgery) remain out.

Vikings Vs. Bills: Chris Cook, Kyle Rudolph Leave Game With Possible Concussions

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Chris Cook and tight end Kyle Rudolph both left Friday night's preseason game vs. the Buffalo Bills with possible concussions. Both were given concussion tests on the sideline early in the second quarter and have not returned to the game.

Rudolph, a second round pick in 2011, missed four games last season while catching 26 balls for 249 yards. Cook, a 2010 second round pick and one of Minnesota's key defenders, has only played in 12 games in his first two seasons. Last season, Cook missed most of Minnesota's season after being arrested for domestic assault.
