Greg Childs Injury: Vikings WR Tears Both Patellar Tendons During Camp

Greg Childs, the Minnesota Vikings' fourth-round pick out of Arkansas in this year's draft, was carted off during Saturday's controlled scrimmage with a knee injury, according to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

Now, we get this news Sunday morning:

Childs injured the knees Saturday while going up for a pass in the corner of the end zone and stayed down while trainers tended to him, according to the Star-Tribune.

A torn patellar tendon limited Childs to eight games his junior season, and he never looked back to full strength during a senior season in which the talented receiver caught just 21 passes and no touchdowns.

The 6-foot-3, 217-pound receiver had looked good thus far in training camp, the Star-Tribune reports, and was expected to earn a spot among the Vikings top corps of wideouts.

It's disappointing news for both sides--for the receiver to fall to the fourth round in this year's draft because of injury concerns, only to tear the patella tendon in both knees, and for the Vikings, who felt they found great value getting Childs that late in the draft.
