Niners At Vikings Score: San Francisco Settles For Another Field Goal

Stay connected for news and updates

What could have potentially been disastrous for the Minnesota Vikings turned into a nice defensive stand and another field goal by the San Francisco 49ers, cutting the Vikings' lead to 11 at 17-6.

The half got off to a really bad start for the Vikings, as Kyle Williams took the Blair Walsh kickoff very deep in the end zone and ran it all the way down to the Minnesota 14-yard line. But, Minnesota held firm from there, and after the Niners failed to draw the Vikings offside on 4th and 2 from the Minnesota 6, the Niners brought David Akers in for another field goal attempt. Akers connected from 29 yards out, and the Niners were on the scoreboard for the second time today after Akers' second field goal in three attempts.

We're early in the third quarter at the Metrodome, and the Minnesota Vikings still lead the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 17-6.
