Jaguars At Vikings: Adrian Peterson Finds The End Zone Again

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made the first big mistake in their season opener against the Minnesota Vikings, and the home team took advantage to take their first lead of the afternoon.

The Jaguars were driving on their first possession of the second half, but a bad quarterback/center exchange between Brad Meester and Blaine Gabbert put the ball on the ground, and Kevin Williams got the recovery at the Jacksonville 44-yard line. From there, the Vikings went to work. Adrian Peterson took the ball 19 yards on the first play of the drive, and Christian Ponder found Percy Harvin for 19 more down to the Jacksonville 6-yard line.

Peterson handled it from there again, getting two more carries and eventually taking it into the end zone from three yards out. It's his second touchdown of the afternoon, and the Blair Walsh extra point put the Vikings ahead by a tally of 14-9.

By the way, Peterson is now just 19 yards away from passing Robert Smith to become the Minnesota Vikings all-time rushing leader. Right now, he has 10 carries for 48 yards on the afternoon.

This could be the start of some positive momentum for the Vikings. Now it's up to the defense. . .a unit that has had its problems today. . .to maintain it.

With 9:38 left in the third quarter at the Metrodome, the Minnesota Vikings now lead the Jacksonville Jaguars, 14-9.
