Minnesota Wild captain Mikko Koivu nearly experienced his own scary Richard Zednik or Clint Malarchuk moment when the skate of his teammate Dany Heatley came up and clipped him on the chin, resulting in quite the cut and, of course, blood. Koivu had a pretty gruesome gash, which took 10 stitches all the way across to mend, but thankfully it was nothing serious like his internal carotid artery or jugular being severed.

Koivu called it an "accident" after the game and says he's only a little sore. While Koivu missed the team's skate around in Vancouver on Friday, he is expected to play on Saturday vs. the Canucks.
↵Heatley made up for injuring his team's captain by scoring with 1.2 seconds left in regulation and then netting the game-winner in the shootout vs. the Oilers for a 2-1 Wild win.
