The Minnesota Wild have a short week this week, but the second place team in the Northwest Division has a chance this week to make a major statement with a pair of home games against Western Conference contenders. Minnesota has the week off until Thursday night when the Anaheim Ducks come to the Xcel Energy Center. The Ducks have gained eight points from seven games so far and they bring a team that has struggled to score goal so far.
Saturday night the Detroit Red Wings, who lad the Central Division, come to St. Paul for a key matchup in the Western Conference. The Red Wings are off to a 5-1 start in their first six games and have been a high scoring unit.
