Wild Vs. Red Wings: Dany Heatley Lifts Minnesota To 1-0 Shutout Of Detroit

Stay connected for news and updates

The Minnesota Wild snapped a two-game losing streak on Saturday with a huge win win over the Detroit Red Wings. Dany Heatley got the lone goal in the game, taking a tipped puck past Minnesota's blue line down the boards and beat Jimmy Howard from his left side over his right shoulder with a beautiful wrister that put the Wild ahead and eventually gave them a 1-0 lead.

Minnesota hands Detroit their fourth-straight loss and the teams are 1-1 against each other this year, as Detroit took the first meeting 3-2 in overtime on Oct. 15. Neither team had their power play working, as there were eight penalties in the game and Heatley's goal wasn't with the man advantage.

Josh Harding was fantastic in net and was the main reason the Red Wings were handed a loss on Saturday, stopping all 36 shots that came his way, while his team only put 20 pucks on the Red Wings' Howard.

This was the second time ever that the Wild were able to shutout Detroit, doing it for the first time since March 2003.
