Wild Vs. Oilers: Minnesota Gets Back Into Win Column By Beating Edmonton, 4-3

The Minnesota Wild hadn't won a game since December 10 when they beat the Phoenix Coyotes for their seventh straight victory. It had been over two weeks since their last win, but the Wild finally rediscovered the win column, ending an eight game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.

The Wild used three second period goals to help make up the difference in what would end their dreadful drought. All even at one going into the second period, Jarod Palmer scored at 10:02 to put the Wild up 2-1. Just 19 seconds later and Minnesota had a 3-1 lead thanks to a goal by Pierre-Marc Bouchard.

Edmonton cut the deficit to a goal a few minutes later, but the Wild answered less than a minute later to go back up two goals.

The Oilers outshot the Wild 30-27, but Oilers netminder Nikolai Khabibulin could only save 15 of the 19 shots he faced before being pulled in favor of backup Devan Dubnyk.

One streak the Wild didn't mind seeing continue on Thursday was Mikko Koivu's point streak, which reached a career high nine games after collecting a goal and an assist. Marek Zidlicky added three assists for the Wild.

Minnesota re-takes the ice on Saturday vs. the Coyotes.
