Becker/Big Lake Goalie Makes 106 Saves. . .In One Game

Stay connected for news and updates

When Becker/Big Lake goalie Alex Darsow woke up on Saturday morning, the odds are pretty good that he was a little bit on the sore side.

In Friday night's first-round Section 8AA playoff game between Becker/Big Lake and River Falls, Darsow made an amazing 106. . .that's one hundred and six. . .saves of River Falls shots in a game that his team ultimately wound up losing 4-3 in triple overtime. To contrast that, in the Wild's last three games, Niklas Backstrom and Jose Theodore have combined for 101 saves.

Darsow made 20 saves in the first period, 26 in the second, 22 in the third, 10 in the first overtime, 21 in the second overtime, and three in the third overtime.

Regardless of whether Darsow and his Becker/Big Lake teammates lost this one or not, he certainly has something to be proud of with the performance he turned in.
