Report: Minnesota Wild Trade Martin Havlat To San Jose For Dany Heatley

Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune has reported on Twitter that the Minnesota Wild have made what would have to qualify as a blockbuster trade.

Havlat was the Wild's leading goal scorer last season, lighting the lamp 22 times and tying Mikko Koivu for the overall team lead in scoring with 62 points. Heatley had 26 goals and 38 assists for the San Jose Sharks last season for a total of 64 points. He was the Sharks' third-leading goal scorer and fourth on the team in points overall.

Heatley is scheduled to make $8 million next season, $6 million in 2012-13 and $5 million in 2013-14. Havlat has four years left on his deal that is valued at approximately $5 million a year.

We will have more on this story as it develops, but be sure to check out our friends from Hockey Wilderness for more reaction to this big trade for the Minnesota Wild.
