Wild Vs. Blues Final Score: Minnesota Falls In Shootout, 3-2

The Minnesota Wild (51 points) took on the Central Division's leading Blues (58 points) on Saturday night in St. Louis. They fought hard, but ultimately fell by a 3-2 score in shootout fashion.

Despite being outshot 17-4, the Wild scored the lone goal in the first period off the stick of David Mcintyre (1), assisted on by Matt Cullen and Darroll Powe. Ironically, in the second period the Wild racked up 17 shots to the Blues' 11 and were outscored 2-1 to take a 2-2 tie into the third period -- Jared Spurgeon's power play slap shot goal was the equalizer with about three minutes remaining in the period.

After no scoring in the third and overtime periods, Kevin Shattenkirk scored the only shootout goal for the Blues to give St. Louis a 3-2 win. The Blues finished with 19 more shots than the Wild, 50-31.

Wild captain Mikko Koivu was injured in the first period and did not return with an upper body injury.

The Wild will hit the ice again on Tuesday in Philadelphia against the Flyers.
