Kings Vs. Wild: Minnesota Loses Ugly One At Home

The Minnesota Wild dropped a disappointing contest to the Los Angeles Kings at home on Tuesday night despite making a couple of last-minute moves during Monday's NHL trade deadline. The moves they made were on defense, but fans are probably rethinking whether they helped following the 4-0 loss at the Xcel Energy Center.

The Wild were outdone early and often on defense as newly acquired Bloomington, Minn., native Tom Gilbert was beat multiple times during his first game sporting the Minnesota jersey. Justin Falk and Marco Scandella weren't good enough on that end, either, and the fans let them know by booing as soon as the first intermission happened.

Nicklas Backstrom only faced 15 shots, which sounds like a positive, but the Wild goaltender was only able to save 11 of them from going through the net as Justin Williams, Dwight King and Anze Kopitar all scored first period goals while Jordan Nolan got one through in the second. Jonathan Bernier stopped all 26 shots on net from the Wild.
