Minnesota Wild Comeback Falls Short In Shootout Loss To Montreal Canadiens

The Minnesota Wild looked like they were on their way to yet another loss on Thursday night as they trailed the Montreal Canadiens 4-1 with less than four minutes left in regulation. They somehow miraculously made a comeback to force overtime, but it fell short with a 5-4 shootout loss in Canada.

Three different Wild players were able to score in the final four minutes of the game as Matt Kassian, Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi all lit the light -- the last with just 10 seconds remaining in the game -- to force overtime. Nobody scored in the overtime, though, causing the eventual shootout.

Matt Cullen and Heatley both were unable to get the puck past Habs goalie Carey Price while Setoguchi unfortunately fell right on his face while trying to make the game-tying shot in the shootout. David Desharnais scored the lone shootout goal for the Canadiens, thereby putting Minnesota out of its misery.
