The Minnesota Vikings and Jerome Felton are not out of the woods yet. It's been a few days since Felton was arrested on suspicion of driving while impaired, but the NFL appears to be taking another look. The Pioneer Press is reporting that the NFL is reviewing the weekend arrest due to the fact that Felton has had a prior DWI conviction.

Spokesman Greg Aiello said Thursday, June 7, the league was investigating Felton's detainment outside an Eden Prairie McDonald's. The recently acquired free agent is subject to punishment by Commissioner Roger Goodell under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy.

His arrest is of second-degree driving while impaired, third-degree DWI with an aggravating factor of one prior DWI conviction within 10 years and of careless driving. Felton allegedly refused an alcohol breath test - a gross misdemeanor - when the police conducted a sobriety test outside of a McDonalds at three in the morning.

Felton was signed by the Vikings this offseason on a one-year deal. The NFL is pretty strict when it comes to repeat offenders so it does seem likely that Felton miss some time, but nothing is confirmed just yet.

On Wednesday morning, Minnesota Vikings troubled running back Jerome Felton apologized to his teammates prior to organized team activities for his arrest last weekend. Felton was arrested early Saturday in a McDonald's drive-through lane for suspicion of second-degree driving while impaired, of third-degree DWI with an aggravating factor of one prior DWI conviction within 10 years, and of careless driving. While Felton declined to talk directly about the incident he vowed to earn back the trust of his teammates.

"I definitely don't want to be the person that has a negative influence," Felton told reporters about addressing the team.

All he would say in terms of his arrest was that he has a positive attitude about his future and was ready for whatever comes his way.

"It's early in the process," said Felton. "I'll handle everything that comes my way, the consequences. I'll move forward and be positive from here on out. I can assure the fans and the organization of that."

A Minnesota Vikings Player Was Arrested For DWI In The McDonald's Drive-Thru Lane

The Minnesota Vikings signed Jerome Felton this offseason but, unfortunately for the fullback, his career in Minnesota is not off to a rousing start ... unless, of course, one subscribes to the notion that any publicity is good publicity.

The newly-signed fullback was arrested for driving while intoxicated over the weekend which is obviously a seriously terrible offense in its own right. It gets worse, however, as 1500 ESPN reports that the arrest happened while he was waiting in the drive-thru lane at McDonald's when it occurred.

In an e-mail Monday, an Eden Prairie police spokesperson wrote that police responded to the McDonald's on Prairie Center Drive at approximately 3 a.m. Saturday because of a report of an intoxicated driver waiting in the drive-thru lane.

Police conducted field sobriety tests on Felton.

He was arrested for second-degree driving while intoxicated with an aggravating factor of refusal to take an alcohol breath test. That is a gross misdemeanor. He also was charged with third-degree DWI with an aggravating factor of one prior DWI conviction within 10 years (gross misdemeanor); as well as careless driving (misdemeanor).

How dumb can a professional athlete be? Take a taxi ... and don't pollute your body with McDonald's when there was a Taco Bell right down the road.

Jerome Felton Arrest: Vikings Fullback Puts Status With Team In Question

Charged with second-degree driving while impaired on Friday, Minnesota Vikings fullback Jerome Felton's future with the organization has immediately come into question after signing with the team as recently as March. Felton, the man projected by many to win the Vikings' starting fullback job this summer and block for elite tailback Adrian Peterson, remains in a Hennepin County jail with his bail set at $12,000.

The Vikings were mostly mum on the incident, as team spokesperson Jeff Anderson mentioned only that the team is "aware of the situation and working to gather more information." But considering how the team dealt with troubled tailback Caleb King back in early May by releasing him after an assault charge, it's conceivable that Felton might end up being released before he can even make it to training camp in a Vikings uniform.

A five-year NFL journeyman, Felton has never scored an NFL touchdown despite getting significant reps at fullback with the Detroit Lions from 2009-2010. The Vikings are Felton's fourth team in his career, but it's clear that off-the-field problems could make it hard for him to gain the trust of a professional franchise.

The Minnesota Vikings just wrapped up a positive week of team OTA workouts, but now the team is dealing with another off-field problem. Recently signed running back, Jerome Felton was arrested late Friday night for suspicion of driving while impaired.

Felton, 25, was arrested shortly before midnight Friday. He is accused of second-degree DWI and refusing to submit to a chemical test, a gross misdemeanor. Bail is set at $12,000.

Felton is fighting for his NFL life after short stops in Carolina and Indianapolis in 2011, Detroit released him in August. In March, the Vikings took a flyer on Felton with a one-year $700,000 contract. This situation certainly won't help Felton's efforts to lock up a roster spot with the Vikings.

Quarterback Rhett Bomar and safety Tyrell Johnson were both arrested less than a year ago, and neither player is with the team any longer.
