Leslie Frazier Interested In Gophers Job?

New, 1 comment

While waiting for the Tim Brewster press conference and the kickoff of the Vikings/Cowboys game today, Chip Scoggins of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune added a rather interesting name to the list of potential candidates for the Gophers’ newly-vacant head coaching job.

Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier.

Scoggins might not be completely off-base on this. Word has it that Tony Dungy is going to be heavily involved in the U of M’s coaching search, and he loves Leslie Frazier. He’s on record as having said that had he taken the job as Seattle Seahawks’ President/GM this past off-season, Frazier would have been his first choice as a head coach.

I, personally, think Frazier would be a great get for the University of Minnesota if he’s truly interested in the job. After interviewing for six or seven NFL head coaching jobs and not getting the call, he might be frustrated with waiting for an NFL spot he covets to open up and would welcome the chance to try to rebuild Dungy’s alma mater.

Of course, the Gophers actually hiring a coach is a long ways down the road. . .but there’s another name for speculation.
