Vikings Players Vote To Decertify Union If Lockout Attempted

Minnesota Vikings players voted unanimously to decertify the NFL Players Association if the owners attempt to lock the players out next season.

Decertification of the union would allow the NFL players to dissolve the union and sue the owners using anti-trust rules if the owners attempt to lock the players out. The current collective bargaining agreement expires on March 1, 2011.

The last time this strategy was used was back in the early 1990s, and it resulted in the players getting expanded free agency rights.
