Blake Hoffarber knocked down a three-pointer with 1:31 left on the clock to give the Minnesota Golden Gophers a lead they wouldn’t give up, as they defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers 74-70 on Sunday night to win the pre-season Puerto Rico Tip-Off tournament.
↵The Gophers pushed their record to 5-0 on the young season, and though they’re still unranked, one would think that that would change in short order. After all, they spent their time in Puerto Rico knocking off the #8 team in the nation in North Carolina, and then a West Virginia team that went all the way to the Final Four last season.
↵The Gopher men will be off until Wednesday, when they’ll host North Dakota State University at Williams Arena.
