Gopher Football Loses TE recruit to Illinois

New Gophers coach Jerry Kill said his priority when he became head coach was to try and keep the recruiting class of Tim Brewster committed to the University of Minnesota.

↵

Naperville IL TE Matt LaCosse has been the first of those recruits to spurn Kill, de-commiting from Minnesota and commiting to the Flying Zookers of Illinois.

↵

LaCosse said part of the reason was being assured that he could play as a freshman. If Kill told him that there were no assurances of playing right away because he would have to earn it, and LaCosse left, I say good luck in Illinois.

↵

Kill made the right call to not promise anyone to anything, and if that’s the attitude he is trying to instill, I think the Gophers are headed in the right direction.
