The good news? Adrian Peterson will play and start this afternoon for the Minnesota Vikings.
The bad news? Three of his more prominent teammates will not be participating in this afternoon’s festivities.
Wide receiver Percy Harvin, guard Steve Hutchinson, and defensive end Ray Edwards are all on the inactive list for the Vikings this afternoon. Bernard Berrian will start in place of Harvin, rookie Chris DeGeare will start in place of Hutchinson, and Brian Robison will start in place of Edwards. This also ends Hutchinson’s streak of 131 consecutive games.
Rookie quarterback Joe Webb is also on the active roster, and as the Vikings only have three active receivers today (Berrian, Sidney Rice, and Greg Camarillo), the rookie could see some limited action at wide receiver today. However, it would be kind of foolish to expect anything but a run-heavy offense from Minnesota this afternoon.
