Report: Golden Gophers Set To Name Jerry Kill New Head Football Coach

After numerous weeks of interviews, interest, denials, and all the intrigue that a college football head coaching search can bring, it turns out that the guy that's getting the job is a name that we really hadn't heard much previously as being under consideration.

According to Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, current Northern Illinois head coach Jerry Kill has accepted the job to take over as the head coach of the Minnesota Golden Gophers' football program.

Kill has 17 years of head coaching experience at the college level, and has been relatively successful everywhere he's been, compiling a record of 127-70. That record includes a seven-year run at Southern Illinois, a two-year run at Emporia State (Kansas), five years at Saginaw Valley State, and three years at Northern Illinois. His Huskies compiled a 10-3 record this season and played in the MAC Championship game en route to earning a berth in the Humanitarian Bowl. Earlier this season, the Huskies knocked off the Golden Gophers 34-23 back on September 25.

We'll have more information and updates on this story as it develops.
