Wild Week: A Look at the Week Ahead

The Wild don't play again until Thursday. As they sit idle, the rest of the league plows forward, leaving the Wild behind. After finishing up the past week 0-2-2, the Wild have to be pleased with the four days off, yet terrified of where that leaves them when they get back to the action.

They have just two games this week as they head out west for a four game swing along the west coast. Starting off against one of the hottest teams in the league, the Phoenix Coyotes, the Wild face an uphill battle on this trip. The 'Yotes are 7-2-1 in their last ten, including a win against the Wild last Wednesday. The Coyotes have ridden this hot streak to the number four spot in the Western Conference, while the Wild continue to drop.

After their stop in the desert, the Wild head to Hollywood to face a struggling, yet very dangerous LA Kings squad on Saturday. The Wild could be just what the doctor ordered for the Kings as they could use a little soft shelled appetizer to get them back on track. Not to say the Kings should be overly threatening with a 3-7-0 record in their past ten, but to say the Wild are even less intimidating at this point in the season.

Should the Wild find themselves falling in the standings without even playing, and then find themselves losing out west, you can guarantee someone doesn't come back to Saint Paul after the trip.

Having given you the schedule of events for the week, make sure you check in with SBNation Minnesota and Hockey Wilderness for constant coverage of the Minnesota Wild.
