More Headlines from Day One of Vikings Mini-Camp

Got a few notes from the first day of Vikings' mini-camp yesterday, thanks to the folks from the Star-Tribune.

-Antoine Winfield was finally back and working out with the team, and by all accounts is completely over the broken foot that caused him to miss six games in 2009 and hindered him in the games he was able to play.  Winfield and Lito Sheppard were the starters at cornerback spots in the base defense (Winfield on the left, Sheppard on the right), and in nickel situations Benny Sapp came in at left corner while Winfield slid inside to the slot.

-Jared Allen, for one, certainly isn't worried about Brett Favre not being at this mini-camp.

“As you can see, we’re all pretty distraught out here," Allen said. "It was hard to get through practice today and I really don’t know how we’re going to do this whole weekend without him being here. I’m sure we’ll survive."

Yet some will insist there's drama.  Really.

-Toby Gerhart, who spent some time beating himself up over a fumble (verbally. . .not literally beating himself up) was scheduled to work in both practices today, and then catch a flight back out to the west coast to participate in his graduation from Stanford on Sunday afternoon.  He'll then come back to Minneapolis to finish his rookie orientation.
