Correction on Sheppard's deal: It's actually $803,250, not $841,500. We regret the error :)

This will not come as welcome news to Wild fans, though it was to be expected. NHL teams rarely let restricted free agents walk for nothing. $803K is not a horrible contract for him, and is within the lower limits of a basic qualifying offer for a RFA in the NHL.

Sheppard is very likely on his last leg with GM Chuck Fletcher judging from the first of many great quotes on Russo's blog right now:

Russo: What do you expect from him?

↵

Fletcher: "Just to get better."

↵

In other words: Suck less.

Sorry Wild fans. He's back.
