Allen Thinks Favre Is Coming Back

Put Jared Allen firmly into the camp of those that believe Brett Favre will, indeed, be quarterbacking the Minnesota Vikings this season.

“If I was a betting man, and I had to put money on it today, absolutely,” Allen said Thursday when asked on “The Waddle & Silvy Show” on ESPN 1000 if he thinks Favre will return. "I hope if the answer was no, he would have already had the wherewithal to tell us that he’s not coming back so we could have done something in free agency.

“But again, the man’s earned the right to do what he pleases. He hasn’t let anybody down yet, so I’m not here to start harping on it yet.”

Frankly, that’s as strong an indication as any that Favre wants to play. If he had zero interest in playing next season, then he a) wouldn’t have signed a two-year deal with the Vikings prior to last year, and b) would have told Brad Childress something already so the Vikings could have prepared for that contingency.

Just more reason to believe that #4 will be behind center in 2010, leading the Vikings to a third consecutive NFC North championship.
