Draft Recap: Johnson, Webster Highlight Wolves' Draft

Rumors regarding the Minnesota Timberwolves swirled all week leading up to the NBA Draft. In the end, the Wolves did make multiple trades, but the only current member of their roster moved was forward Ryan Gomes.

Here’s what the team did with their draft picks:

Round 1, 4th Pick – Timberwolves draft Wesley Johnson

Round 1, 16th Pick – Timberwolves draft Luke Babbitt, package him with Ryan Gomes and acquire forward Martell Webster from Portland

Round 1, 23rd Pick – Timberwolves draft Trevor Booker, package him with the 56th pick and receive the 30th and 35th picks from Washington

Round 1, 30th Pick – With the pick acquired from Washington, the Timberwolves draft Lazar Hayward

Round 2, 35th Pick – With the pick acquired from Washington, the Timberwolves draft Nemanja Bjelica

Round 2, 45th Pick – Timberwolves draft Paulao Prestes

As you can see from the bolded areas above, the Timberwolves in the end came away from the 2010 NBA Draft with five new players:

Wesley Johnson
Martell Webster
Lazar Hayward
Nemanja Bjelica
Paulao Prestes

It’s hard to grade the draft before hearing what Timberwolves’ President David Kahn has to say (he’ll hold a press conference tomorrow), and even then it might take several years to judge the draft. No matter, you can give your opinion with the SBNation Minnesota poll.

Check back for more after players are introduced to the media and the team makes comments in regards to their draft night moves.
