Span Triples His Pleasure. Literally.

New, 1 comment

When the Twins woke up on Tuesday morning, they found themselves out of first place in the AL Central for the first time in nearly three months. When they wake up on Wednesday morning, they won’t have that worry, thanks in large part to Denard Span.

Span tied a modern-era Major League record with three triples in one game. He tripled to center in the first and to right in the fourth, both coming off of Detroit starter Armando Galarraga. He then added one more in the fifth off of Tigers reliever Fu-Te “We Are the Knights Who Say” Ni.

Throw in a single and a walk, and Span finished his night 4-for-4 with 5 RBI, pacing the Twins to an 11-4 victory over the Tigers and putting them back into first place in the division.
