All-Star Lineup: Mauer Will Bat Seventh

When the American League takes the field tomorrow night in Anaheim for the 2010 All-Star Game, the Minnesota Twins will be represented by catcher Joe Mauer. The St. Paul native will be making his fourth All-Star appearance, and his third start behind the plate.

Despite a disappointing first half by his standards, Mauer led all players in fan voting, and he’ll be seventh in the batting order for this season’s Midsummer Classic.

As noted previously, Twins’ first baseman Justin Morneau, who was set to start at first base for the AL, has dropped out of the game after suffering a concussion last week.
