If Nothing Else, Michael Beasley Is Exciting

When all is said and done, the biggest move for the Minnesota Timberwolves this summer might be the easiest one they made. With three superstars incoming and the need for additional cap space, the Miami Heat in a sense handed the Wolves the No. 2 pick from the 2008 NBA Draft.

In two seasons with the Heat, Michael Beasley averaged 27.3 minutes, 5.9 rebounds and 14.3 points per game. At 21 years old, he still has a great chance to grow, and the acquisition by David Kahn has a lot of fans excited.

Sure Beasley has hit a few rough spots early on in his young career, but as he explained in his welcoming press conference, a lot of people don’t know the real Beasley.

When asked if the Wolves have gambled on him, he said, “Yeah, definitely.” But he also said people don’t know the real Michael Beasley.

“People don’t know I’m actually a good guy,” he said. “I actually love kids and dogs and long walks in the park.”

Whether the experiment works out or not, it should be a fun one to follow. Beasley was a true No. 2 talent, and he could make for a great story with his work both on and off the court.
