Twins Lose to Orioles 3-2; Currently 2.5 Games Back

Brian Duensing performed well in his first start of the year, but the bullpen let him down as the Twins fell to the Baltimore Orioles 3-2 on Friday night.

↵

Duensing gave up one run on four hits in five innings of work, and the Twins took a 2-1 lead in the top of the sixth on Joe Mauer’s two-run homer to center. However, Anthony Slama gave the lead back in the bottom half of the inning on a two-run homer by Baltimore’s Luke Scott.

The loss puts the Twins 2.5 games behind the Chicago White Sox and back into sole possession of third place in the AL Central, half a game behind Detroit. The Tigers had their game rained out today.

Tomorrow’s pitching match-up will see Scott Baker (7-9, 5.15) take the hill for the Twins, while the Orioles will counter with Brian Matusz (3-10, 5.21).

We apologize for not having tonight’s game up due to a miscommunication on our part. Tomorrow coverage will resume as normal.
