Hudson Goes to DL; Morales Called Up from AAA

Lavelle E. Neal is reporting that the Minnesota Twins have placed second baseman Orlando Hudson on the 15-day disabled list. Hudson injured himself in the third inning of Friday’s loss to the Baltimore Orioles. He strained a muscle in his ribcage while swinging the bat.

Hudson attempted to take a few swings before Sunday’s game, but is unable to hit left-handed.

Morales started the year in Minnesota, and has been hitting .280 with two home runs and 24 RBI since returning to Rochester.

The move gives the Twins three catchers (Morales, Joe Mauer, and Drew Butera) as well as one player that’s exclusively a DH (Jim Thome). However, Lavelle’s “spies” have been telling him that Morales has been taking some ground balls at first base. With Justin Morneau hurting as well, that could mean that Morales will be spending some time at first in the near future.
