Final Vote: No All-Star Game For Delmon Young

Delmon Young is having a tremendous year with the Minnesota Twins, hitting .306 with 10 homeruns and 57 RBI as the first half of the season nears an end. Last year, in a total of 108 games, Young hit just two more homeruns and drove in just three more runners.

The productive first half helped get Young on the Final Vote ballot for the 2010 All-Star Game, but going against the likes of Boston’s Kevin Youkilis and New York’s Nick Swisher, it was sure to be a tough race to earn a trip to Anaheim.

The last spot on the American League roster went to Swisher today, and barring a last minute addition by the manager, Young will have the early part of next week off. The mention and attention for Young was well deserved, and Twins’ fans are certainly happy with him whether he’s an All-Star outfielder or not.
