Defense Leads Vikings' 24-13 Win Over Seahawks

Javon Walker, signed earlier in the week after it was revealed Sidney Rice will miss extended time with a hip injury, caught the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter from Sage Rosenfels to help give Minnesota a 24-13 exhibition win over Seattle.

Brett Favre, who played just one series in his preseason debut last week, saw extended time and completed 16-of-26 throws for 187 yards but threw two interceptions, one of which Seahawks rookie Earl Thomas returned 86 yards for a TD in the second quarter.

Adrian Peterson rushed for 37 yards, including a 24-yard score in the second frame for the Vikings, who received 47 yards on four catches from another newly acquired receiver, Greg Camarillo.

Matt Hasselbeck went 9-of-17 through the air for 126 yards but only led the offense to a pair of Olindo Mare field goals in both second and third quarters.

The latter gave Seattle a 13-10 lead before Walker’s TD on 4th-and-4 from the Seahawks’ 25-yard line put the Vikings ahead with seven minutes left.

Following a Charlie Whitehurst interception, Joe Webb hit Ryan D’Imperio with a seven-yard TD toss to put the game away.
