Thome Now In Eighth On All-Time Home Run List

We may have failed to mention it in all the excitement, but the blast that Jim Thome hit on Saturday night against the Indians. . .the only run in a 1-0 Minnesota win. . .pushed him past Frank Robinson into sole possession of eighth place on Major League Baseball’s all-time home run list.

Thome now has 587 home runs over the course of his career, and has hit more than 20 home runs in a season 16 times in his 20 year career.

Seventh place might be a little tougher to get to, however, as that mark is currently held by some guy named Alex Rodriguez. He currently has 606 home runs. Sammy “No Hablo Ingles in front of Congress” Sosa is in sixth with 609 steroid-aided blasts.

Congratulations, once again, to Jim Thome. Man. . .feels like we’ve been saying that a lot lately.
