Grandpa Sports Rips Gopher Football Budget

God bless Sid Hartman. The guy has been a part of the Minnesota sports scene for longer than a lot of us have been alive, and anyone that’s read him knows that he’s as much of a Minnesota homer as they come. That’s what makes his column in today’s Star-Tribune so unexpected. . .and so great.

Sid points out that the Gophers spend less on football than any other school in the Big Ten. The heirarchy of Big Ten football spending, according to Sid’s research, is as follows:

↵

-Ohio State
-Iowa
-Wisconsin
-Penn State
-Michigan
-Michigan State
-Northwestern
-Purdue
-Indiana
-Illinois
-Minnesota

Weird. . .that bears quite the strong resemblance to what the Big Ten standings will probably look like this season. Go figure.
