The Minnesota Vikings have been rumored to be in pursuit of San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson for the past couple of weeks, often being cited as the “unnamed team” that had a deal worked out with Jackson a couple of weeks ago, but couldn’t work out trade compensation with the Chargers.
↵Now, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the six-game suspension that Jackson was going to have to serve in connection with his violating the league’s substance abuse policy will be reduced to four games if he is traded to another team.
↵If Jackson remains with the Chargers, he will have to serve the entire six-game suspension.
↵Does this mean that the Vikings will still be pursuing the 6’6" wideout in a trade? It’s certainly a situation that bears watching for Viking fans.
↵If the Vikings were to swing a trade for Jackson, given this settlement today, the first game he would be eligible to play for Minnesota would be their Week Six match-up at the Metrodome against the Dallas Cowboys.
