Troy Stoudermire Suspended By Gophers

Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that the Minnesota Golden Gophers have suspended wide receiver Troy Stoudermire for "conduct detrimental to the team." It has not yet been disclosed what the nature of Stoudermire's offense was.

In the first three games of the season, Stoudermire had managed only six catches, but was the Gophers' starting kick returner. We here at SBNation Minnesota even touted him as one of the top five keys to a successful Gophers season.

Stoudermire apparently plans to transfer. . .at least, if the status update he posted on his FaceBook page means anything.

Troy Stoudermire is no longer a gopher (and) ready to take my talent to a top d-1 school where I will be appreciated and respected as a player!

Third-person aside, the Gophers will, in all likelihood, miss Stoudermire quite a bit going forward.

If there's anything further on this story, we'll have it for you right here, as will our friends over at The Daily Gopher.
