Gardy Okay After Getting Hit In Head

If you take a close look at the stories we have rotating at the top of the page there, you may notice something unusual about the picture of Twins manager Ron Gardenhire.

(Okay, you missed it ... Gophers lose again ... Vikings win ... ah, there it is.)

Yes, those are stitches in Gardy’s right ear. Turns out that while he was standing behind first base during batting practice in Detroit on Saturday, an errant throw from infielder Alexi Casilla hit Gardenhire right in the ear. The Twins manager had to have surgery to release the pressure from getting hit ... hence the stitches.

He was back on the bench Sunday afternoon for the Twins’ 5-1 loss to the Tigers.
