Prior to the Gophers’ game against Northern Illinois, wide receiver Troy Stoudermire was suspended for “conduct detrimental to the team” by head coach/dead man walking Tim Brewster. The suspension was said to be indefinite, but apparently lasted all of one game, and it hasn’t actually been disclosed what said detrimental conduct was.
↵So, just to make this a little weirder. . .while Stoudermire is back, it appears that he might not be back as a wide receiver. According to Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Stoudermire was practicing with the defensive backs, even wearing the white defense jersey rather than the maroon worn by the offense during practice.
↵So, to review, the Gophers have their best quarterback playing wide receiver, and (arguably) their most versatile offensive weapon switching over to play defensive back.
↵Yikes.
