Stoudermire Back With Gophers

New, 1 comment

Prior to the Gophers’ game against Northern Illinois, wide receiver Troy Stoudermire was suspended for “conduct detrimental to the team” by head coach/dead man walking Tim Brewster. The suspension was said to be indefinite, but apparently lasted all of one game, and it hasn’t actually been disclosed what said detrimental conduct was.

So, just to make this a little weirder. . .while Stoudermire is back, it appears that he might not be back as a wide receiver. According to Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, Stoudermire was practicing with the defensive backs, even wearing the white defense jersey rather than the maroon worn by the offense during practice.

So, to review, the Gophers have their best quarterback playing wide receiver, and (arguably) their most versatile offensive weapon switching over to play defensive back.

Yikes.
